Dr. Ly brings traditional Chinese medicine to the deep south.
"We treat a lot of arthritis problems, and a lot of liver and gall bladder problems which we call the peanut butter syndrome."

Pam's treatments for severe sciatica with Dr. Ly produced almost immediate positive results. So did Ann's treatments for chronic sinus problems and Ann's husband's problem with a facial tic.

Our Background: A Family's Legacy The Ly family practice originated in mainland China where their great grandfather embarked on the family's first practice in the late 1800's. He devoted his life to healing with compassion, a trait still honored by his family today. He passed his knowledge along to his children, an act that would live on for generations to come. His son, Dr. Su-Huai Ly (1919-1996) was a renowned leader in Traditional Chinese Medicine in Taiwan, dedicating most of his life to this field. With great devotion and unique insight, he was considered to be one of the leading pioneers of his time. He has written books on acupuncture and mentored many students. His compassion and dedication to providing health and well-being among patients has become a credo that is carried on by his son Dr. Alexander Ly. In 1976, Dr. Alexander Ly brought the family’s tradition to the United States. Alex has a Master’s degree in Science and is a registered doctor of Chinese medicine, herbalist, and certified acupuncturist. He founded the first acupuncture clinic in Florence, Alabama in 1982 and later went on to establish several other clinical branches in Alabama and Tennessee. With over forty years of experience, Alex is well-respected in his expertise in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Having treated thousands of patients, Alex has a reputation as a compassionate and gifted healer. Passionate about teaching Chinese medicine and promoting health, Alex has given lectures and talks around the world; served as guest speaker to various groups of medical professionals; and collaborated with renowned researchers on topics such as cancer & herbal medicine and acupuncture & pain management. Alex has been featured in numerous media reports, including the national PBS program, Health Week, and local newspapers and magazines. Alex's loving and supporting wife, Catherine Ly, is a licensed acupuncturist and also assists with the practice. Catherine oversees the health and beauty program in the clinic which includes facial rejuvenation and cosmetic acupuncture. Helen Ly and Amy Ly are daughters of Alex and Catherine. Growing up, they cultivated an interest in medicine through teachings from their grandfather and father in Chinese medicine and shadowing at the clinics. Both graduates of Vanderbilt University with majors in Neuroscience, the two sisters further pursued research at Harvard before going to medical school at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Helen and Amy are passionate about their background in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. Helen is currently training to become a neurologist and will receive her training at the University of Tennessee in Memphis. She plans to integrate Eastern and Western medicine in her future practice. Dr. Jade Ly, Alex's niece, holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutics and is a distinguished researcher in herbal medicine and nutrition. She serves as the advisor for herb and supplements at Dr. Ly Natural Health Institute. The Ly family has devoted their service to the promotion and maintenance of health, while striving to provide the utmost quality in care for patients. For almost thirty years, over thousands of patients from all over the country have benefited from their help.
