FAQs

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a component of Chinese medicine. Very fine, solid needles are used to stimulate specific acupuncture points on the body to assist our body’s own ability to heal. Needles are often manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation for maximal healing effect.

Will acupuncture hurt?

Since acupuncture needles are so fine in diameter, most patients do not experience any pain; however, a minimal sting may be felt in more sensitive and tender areas. Our professional staff take into account that every patient is different and will work with each individual to ensure a pleasant experience.

This is a frequently asked question?

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Is acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is an extremely safe therapeutic procedure. At Dr. Ly Natural Health, we use sterile, high quality one-time use, disposable needles taken from a sealed package for every patient. Your safety and wellbeing is our primary concern.

Does acupuncture work?

Several leading health institutions including the World Health Organization and American Academy of Medical Acupuncture have endorsed the benefit of acupuncture for a variety of health conditions. In 1997 The National Institute of Health stated “there is sufficient evidence of acupuncture’s value to expand its use into conventional medicine.” Much research has been done on acupuncture in recent years showing efficacy for adult postoperative and chemotherapy nausea and vomiting, postoperative dental pain, addiction, stroke rehabilitation, headache, menstrual cramps, tennis elbow, fibromyalgia, myofascial pain, osteoarthritis, lowback pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, asthma-and many other conditions.
Scientific research has shown that acupuncture can improve metabolism, promote circulation, regulate the nervous system to reduce pain, and balance the immune system to produce anti-inflammatory effects.

Will acupuncture treatments be covered by my insurance?

Insurance coverage varies with different insurance companies. Please check your insurance plan to see if acupuncture is covered in your plan.

How many treatments will it take?

This varies from one patient to the next depending on the severity and chronicity of the condition. The patient’s overall health and age can also play a factor in the number of treatments needed. Many people see a significant improvement after the first session. Most will experience strong results by their 3rd or 4th visit. For more information please contact our office directly.
